[Menu Management](https://support.nextorder.com/menu-management?hsLang=en) # Create Modifiers & Categories ## Create item categories and modifiers to keep your order tickets, customer receipts, and sales reports detailed and organised. When adding menu itemsin your **[Next Order Admin panel](https://app.intercom.com/)**, you have the ability to customize and group them in a few different ways. **Item Variations** - This allows adding variants to the same menu item with the same sizes ( For example: With cheese or Gluten-Free ). No more than two variants are allowed to be added to one Menu item. Additional prices can also be added for a variant. **Item Modifiers** - Edit, modify or specify a change to a pre-existing item in the kitchen. Modifiers can also add to the cost of the item if necessary. For example, extra mushrooms for $1.50, Extra cheese for $2.50, and No Olives. **Categories** - Helps Categorise Menu items. The Categories you create appear on Online/POS as set up on the Admin panel. **Display Order -** Helpsorganise how items appear on your website and delivery platforms. ### **Create Item Modifiers Online:** Create item modifiers if you need customisable options like toppings, add-ons, or special requests. 1. From the **Menu** option in your Next Order Admin Panel, click **Modifiers** \> **Add Modifier** 2. Enter the modifier name & Click **Save.** 3. The Modifier Set name is how your modifier set appears in your Online ordering/POS. 4. Click View \> Add modifier options ( For example: If the Modifier added is **Spice Level,** the options would be Mild Spicy, Medium Spicy, Hot ). 5. Go back to the Menu \> Menu items \> Then click on view on the Menu item for which you would like to add the created Modifier. 6. In the **Item Type** stepof Menu item \> Select **Add menu item with modifiers** \> Click on **Base Modifier** ( Which is usually size ) \> Select the required size from the list \> Click Save then Next Step \> Select **Other Modifiers** ( Example: Spice Level ). 7. Keep on clicking Next until you reach the preview tab of the Menu item - Here you can rearrange the Modifiers & their options by clicking on the up-down arrows \> Click Save. 8. The Modifier has been successfully added to the menu item. **Note:** Customers can only select one option **-** The Modifier is required for the Menu item in which it is added and only allows one option to be chosen by the customer. Go to **Menu** \> Click **Modifiers** 2\. Click **View** on the Size Modifier \> View Size variations on top right corner \> Add Variation \> Enter Variation Name ( For Example: Gluten-Free ) \> Click **Save.** **a) Add Variation to a Simple Menu item:** 1\. Go back to the Menu \> Menu items \> Then click on view on the Menu item for which you would like to add the created Variation. 2\. In the **Item Type** stepof Menu item \> Select **Add simple menu item** \> Next Step. 3\. Then select the variation added ( For example, Gluten-Free ) \> Enter additional price ( If Any ) for the variation \> Click on Next Step until **Preview** \> Click **Save.** **b) Add Variation to a Menu item with Modifiers:** 1\. Go back to the Menu \> Menu items \> Then click view on the Menu item for which you would like to add the created Variation. 2\. In the **Item Type** stepof Menu item \> Select **Add menu item with modifiers** \> Click on **Base Modifier** ( Which is usually size ) \> Select the required size from the list & the same list select the added Variation along with the sizes \> Enter prices for Sizes & additional price for the variation ( If Any ) \> Click Save then Next Step \> Select **Other Modifiers.** 3\. Enter Name of the Category \> Select one of the Default Emoji or Upload your own Emoji ( Emojis appear on POS only ). 3\.
